Through some savvy sleuthing, members of the EV enthusiast community believe they’ve uncovered hints about an enhanced Tesla Model 3 variant hidden in plain sight. Specifically, a careful examination of Tesla UK’s website code alluded to an even sportier Performance model in the works.
The source material references a dual-motor powertrain generating over 500 horsepower combined. While short on specifics, this would represent a slight bump over the old 505hp figure. Similarly tweaked is the car’s chassis and suspension tuning, with promises of sharper reflexes and more engaging steering feel. Braking performance and heat management have also reportedly been optimized.
Design-wise, revised aerodynamic bodywork like new front/rear fascias and a rear diffuser are name-checked. A rear spoiler and “lightweight carbon fiber décor” inside are also called out. And upgraded sport seats with improved bolstering and ventilation round out the cabin tweaks.
As for performance, a placeholder is listed where the 0-60mph sprint time would normally appear. The previous 3.1-second sprint serves as a benchmark. Battery and weight specs appear carried over at 82kWh and 4,089 pounds respectively.
Curiously, despite rumors of a “Ludicrous” rebrand, it seems the “Performance” moniker will remain. And while images were unable to be extracted, the level of specificity suggests this updated model is well beyond the conceptual stage.
Considering the leak originated from Tesla’s own site, an official debut can’t be far off. Performance enthusiasts may not have to wait much longer to experience what this next-gen Model 3 has to offer.
